Q. What is the Side Load Access Panelâ„¢ (SLAP) and what does it do?

A. The SLAP is a modular mounting system for your overland essentials. Whether it be your recovery gear or your fuel and water packs, the SLAP takes advantage of the rear side window panels that normally goes unused and offers convenient access to the items you attach.

The SLAP is also a great option if you've ran out of mounting space on your roof rack because of a RTT and don't want to commit to an expensive rear bumper.

Q. When will the SLAP be available?

A. The next Pre-Order run of SLAPs starts Friday 5/14/21 at Noon Pacific and ends Friday 5/21/21 at Noon Pacific. Please allow 8-10 weeks for production before shipping (Mid-Late July).

Any cancellation request will be subjected to a 15% fee, so please confirm the wait time before ordering. Thank you for your support and patience.

Q. Does the SLAP only work with the Prinsu Design roof rack?

A. The original answer was yes as it was specifically designed for the Prinsu Design roof rack for the 4th & 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner. We have now redesigned the SLAP v2 to adapt to more vehicles and different brands of roof racks. See below.

Q. Does the SLAP work with my vehicle and brand of roof rack?

A. We have test fitted and confirmed the updated SLAP v2 will work with the following vehicles and brands of roof racks:

- Prinsu Design (Direct Bolt-On) for 3rd, 4th & 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner, GX470/460, FJ Cruiser

- Front Runner (Adapter Brackets Needed) for 4th & 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner, FJ Cruiser

- Gobi (Adapter Brackets Needed) for 3rd, 4th & 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner

- Sherpa EC (Direct Bolt-On) for 3rd, 4th & 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner and 1st Gen Toyota Sequoia, GX470/460

- Rhino Rack (Adapter Brackets Needed) for FJ Cruiser

The SLAP will NOT work with the following brands of roof racks:

- Ecotechne, upTOP Overland and LFD Off Road.

Please contact us if you've got a vehicle and roof rack not listed as we may be in the process of test fitting but haven't updated the list yet.

Q. What can you mount onto the SLAP?

A. The SLAP was designed with a modular mounting grid system for your recovery gear, fuel and water packs, and anything else that you can securely bolt or strap onto it.

The most popular options to mount are shovels, axes, Rotopax containers, Maxtrax recovery boards and the Waterport Day Tank.

Q. How much weight can the SLAP hold?

A. We have tested and ran 4 Gallon RotopaX containers while others have mounted the Waterport Day Tank without problem. We do not recommend overloading the SLAP with unsafe weight. We also do not recommend using the SLAP as a side ladder for climbing.

Q. Can the SLAP survive a drive through car wash?

A. Most likely but we would recommend removing anything that is attached to it first.

Q. How does the SLAP mount to the Prinsu Design roof rack?

A. The SLAP is a direct bolt-on to the side rails of the Prinsu roof rack using the existing crossbar hardware. For other racks that are not direct bolt-ons, adapter brackets are needed.

Q. How does the SLAP attach on the bottom?

A. The bottom of the SLAP uses suction cups that can attach to the body panel or rear side window. They are used to act as bump stops. Removal of stock badges is not required on the SLAP v2 if both suction cups rests on the window.
